HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
AND
HELP OMS PTA
Please accept our invitation to join and become a partner in education. OMS PTA membership helps to support our programs and the statewide work of the PTA. Typically, a membership drive occurs in September in which you sumbit your membership form and payment to your child's homeroom parent. If you missed that opportunity and want to become a PTA member, you can register any time during the year by filling out the attached PTA Membership form and send your payment in to school with your child. This may also be done on line.
There is a way for everyone to lend a hand - fill out the Volunteer Sign-up and send it back to school! Grab a few friends and get involved today! You do need to be a PTA member to Chair a Committee or serve as an officer. However, you do not need to be a PTA member to volunteer, but we'd love for you to join! There are so many ways to volunteer at OMS. The PTA offers parents the opportunity to get involved as little or as much as you want. Check out the list of PTA Programs A - Z . Then just let the PTA board know that you have some time or talent to share. Be sure to ask the PTA board about PTA office vacancies too! Every volunteer is appreciated by the teachers, staff and children, whether you are in the classroom once a week, once a year or even if you can only help out at home. The following volunteer guidelines will help you and the school personnel get the most out of our volunteer organization. We recognize that most of you live a busy family lifestyle. But please know that when we all lend a hand to spread out the workload, we can accomplish an awful lot! The National PTA has challenged parents to volunteer just 3 hours of their time over the course of the school year to help out the PTA in their Three for Me program. |
OMS PTA is always in need of REC Night Chaperones and folks to organize some fun games during that night!

Founder's Day
Founders Day is a reminder of the substantial role that PTA plays locally, regionally, and nationally in supporting parent involvement and working on behalf of all children and families. It's a time to reflect and take pride in our many accomplishments, and to renew our commitment to be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for parents, and a strong advocate for education.
Each year you are encouraged to nominate a parent and OMS staff member for the Founder's Day Award. The winner will be honored at the District's Founder's Day Dinner in February. Nomination Forms are due in mid-November, individuals can only be honored once in a lifetime. Contact Kimberly Krizan for further information.
