Welcome!
The O'Rourke Middle School PTA is a volunteer organization made up of parents both moms and dads, guardians, teachers and community members who want to make a difference in our children's school experience. All are welcomed and appreciated -- and you know what, we can never have enough volunteers. Volunteering affords you the opportunity to meet other parents, meet your child's friends, and make a positive contribution to your community.
The PTA works together with families, schools, and the community to support student success by:
-
welcoming all families into the school community
-
communicating effectively
-
supporting student learning
-
collaborating with the community
What are some of our PTA Goals this year?
-
increase family involvement during the middle school years
-
meet the academic and social needs of the students
- effectively communicate PTA news and information allowing for a stronger bridge between school and home
- build a strong infrastructure and re-evaluate programs based on student and staff needs
How is the PTA funded?
Only a very small portion of money comes from membership dues, the majority of the funding for our programs and activites comes from a few fundraisers. Without these critical fundraisers the PTA wouldn't be able to sponsor the many programs that enrich our children's lives.
When families get involved in their children's education, it pays off! Research shows that children whose parents are actively involved in the school are more likely to earn higher grades, adapt more quickly, have better social skills and so much more. Parent involvement is great for children, great for teachers and great for our school! Help us make the middle school years the BEST that it can be!
